CTR Towing Service at the 6th Annual Toys for Tots Drive

What We Did This Year

Our 6th Annual Toys for Tots drive was another huge success! We pooled our donations with the DFW area towing companies. Together, we filled a flatbed full of bicycles and packed two trailers full of toys. That visual stuck with us, because it showed the scale that our industry is capable of when we work together for our communities.

Toys for Tots Hits Home for Us

This drive has a personal origin story for us. Owner, Kyle Chron, had the idea to start a new drive after his son, Cole, was born in 2019 and spent eight months in the NICU at Children’s Hospital in Dallas. Cole later moved to Our Children’s House where he spent two months, at a facility connected to the Ronald McDonald House network. Kyle wanted to give back to the kids and families who live through that kind of long hospital stay, so he put the word out to local area DFW towing community to help build a toy drive.

The first & second year included a coordinated drive past the Children’s Hospital and then to Our Children’s House, with lights and horns so the kids could see the trucks. Our Children’s House closed a few years ago, but the event kept growing. Six years in, we’re still going strong!

How the Drive Worked and Where the Toys Went

The day followed a clear route and a clear purpose: participants drove as a group from Plano to the Toys for Tots drop off point at Cabela’s in Allen, Texas. Allen Police Department and the Plano Fire Department escorted the convoy. We transported our donations as part of that organized drive, alongside the other participating towing companies.

Toys for Tots operates nationwide through the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Local partners run collection sites, gather new and unwrapped toys, sort them, and distribute them to children in need during the holiday season. Community events like this one support those local efforts by bringing large volumes of toys to a single drop off location in a short time.
